My new ball
Never thought I would be writing this review, but the product made me do it. Have been a ProV1 payer for two decades. I pay to a 4 hcp. I am a golf equipment junkie. Driver swing speed is 100 mph. I have also been trying the new Callaway Chrome Tour. I like the triple track and found the ball to be good. I came across the review of the new PXG Xtreme Tour balls on the MyGolfSpy website. Swing speed numbers were the same as mine. Talked about soft feel and good spin. So I ordered the three for two price. I have played 3 18 hole rounds with them. Spoiler alert… really good balls. Very little scuffing of cover. Used 2 balls for three rounds. Only added the second ball because I hit first one in water. My new gamer for this winter in Florida. Here is my actual review after 3 rounds.
Driver- Longer than Prov1 because of 400 mph less spin. About 7-10 yards. The feel is softer than Prov1, and not as clicky. Real solid feel. My foursome mates say it snaps off the driver face(Ping G430 Max). They had not heard that sound from me before.
Long irons- A touch firmer than ProV1, but not clicky either. High launch with my Callaway Smoke AI irons. Spin to green is good. Will hit and jump 3-4 feet and stop.
Short irons- high launch, Really good spin. Lands and jumps 2-3 feet and stops. Very similar to Chrome Tour.
Pitching- Not quite as spinny as Prov1, but took only one round to figure out spin on Xtreme Tour. Will bite when clipped aggressively.
Putting- nice soft feel. Not as soft as ProV1. I prefer the ever so slightly firmer feel of Xtreme Tour.
Final thoughts. My scores have been very consistent with all three balls. I have and could play any of them and enjoy them all. But here is the extra little spiff with Xtreme Tour. You can buy three dozen for the price of two. This gets each dozen to $33. This is amazing. Hey PXG, nice job in the marketing. If you keep the price the same, you will sell them. After playing them, I have purchased another 3 dozen. Good for this winter.
