Polara Accuracy - Golf Balls

I'm around a 20 handicap. I normally shoot in the 90's. Once in a while mid 80's. I've played every golf ball known to man and I always come back to my Maxfli Noodles. After reading about the re-introduction of the Polara. I bought a dozen on EbaY to give them a try in my league. The Polara does what it says it does. It goes straight. It reduced my bad slice (normally about 20 yards) to 5 to 10 yards. That's the good news. The bad news is occasionally I pull the ball a bit and the slice would bri

This ball does what it claims to do (reduce slices) and had worked for me. I still slice it but none have gone into the fairway on the other hole like they used to. Compression is about an 80 so it's not a "rock-flite". Feel could be better and putting is ok. Biggest drawback is price.

I played these in the late 70's when I believe that they were USGA legal. When he USGA came out with the symmetry rule, they seemed to go off the market.They do work in that they reduce the slice.I am glad to see them back

I play regularly for business and have spent way too much to play as crappy as I do. So I no longer buy into all that advertising bull about how all these new clubs and balls will improve my game. I heard about these balls from a neighbor and the only reason I tried them out was I figured they must work a little if they're non-conforming. Bottom line is that the balls were not a miracle cure because I'm still skilled at shanking and mis-hitting the ball. But it was a real buzz to crush those balls with my driver on those par-5's and not slice them into oblivion every time. One of my foursome gave me a hard time for using a cheater ball even though he takes mulligans whenever he can (at least he shup-up for once about my slow play). All my other complaints relate to my struggling short-game.

I remember this golf ball from the 70's. Apparently, nothing about the golf ball has changed regarding the shallow dimples at the poles reducing hooks and slices. I see nothing wrong with using this golf ball as it theoretically, will shave strokes off your score. You still have to hit the ball correctly, just the same, to get the desired result you want. I played this ball a little bit back then and in the 80's and it was a decent golf ball. The technology of it has improved as far as distance goes, like all other golf balls have. There are clubs that are not "USGA approved" either, but people use those clubs, too. It's an advantage in itself to use metal drivers and such in terms of distance as opposed to the old wood-faced and persimmon-faced drivers, so why not have the same advantage in a golf ball that does what you want it to do, to a certain extent. Glad to see it back on the market.

I think that Leon and Chris are saying the same thing that Polora is advertising. The question is why are you playing. Some golfers are very serious about their game and this ball is not for them. They need USGA approved balls for their tournament play. Polora says that if you are playing for fun, this ball can add to your enjoyment of the game. It will give you the ability to "play fairway golf". I tried the ball and I agree with Chris about the potential of this product. I also agree with Leon in that I cannot use this in my upcoming tournament to use on my handicap. I will use this when I am playing for fun but I will use my Callaway's when I am serious about that round of play.

Not really a review, just a comment on Chris's review from Katy, TX. How can an amateur expect to improve his/her skills if the ball does so much to mask their swing flaws that result in the "sidewinder" drives into the adjacent fairway ? My philosophy is get fitted for the best equipment you can afford, including the appropriate ball to match your playing style and launch conditions with all clubs, keep it all USGA-legal, and then the only blame for a high score will fall on the golfer, not the equipment. That way the golfer can get an accurate assesment of their skills and areas they need to practice more. If you become dependent on illegal equipment, you'll be a fish out of water someday when forced to play conforming gear in competition, and embarass yourself, and who needs that ? Not me ! Of course, if you don't care about competing in sanctioned tournaments, buy this ball and have fun ... but don't let me see your name on my league roster or sheet of new GHIN handicap index wallet cards !

I'm a high handicapper golfer who has always spent more time looking for my ball in the woods than enjoying a nice walk down the fairway. Recently, I read about the Polara in the Houston Chronicle and was interested in seeing how this slice-reducing ball would improve my game. Not only did the ball perform as promised (12 strokes shaved off my game last week), the ball went the distance and performed as well as my Noodle Al Dente balls. In one particular fly-off between the two balls on the 14th hole (yes, I pulled a mulligen with Noodle and switched to Polara), the Noodle went off like a sidewinder into the adjacent fairway while the Polara flew straight like it was guided by a wire. I was speechless. For any amateur golfer, especially those with high handicapps, I highly recommend the Polara.
