Callaway Golf GBB Epic Driver

I ordered the GBB Epic on a Thursday evening, and received it on the following Tuesday, just after playing 18 that morning. Immediately took it to the range, and was amazed at the consistency of this club, far more forgiving than any driver I've hit in my 64 years. I selected the 13.5 degree loft, with the 40 gram Diamana shaft in a senior flex. After a few towering shots, I reduced the loft to 12.5 (it can also go up to 15.5 if needed in future years.). Also played with the easily adjusted slider that creates a draw or fade bias. Within ten minutes I was hitting the most consistent, straight drives of my life. Other reviewers have reported increased distance; I've not seen that as much as nailing drive after drive with few "disasters", even on poor swings. Also, I've seen none of the quality or construction issues described by others...may be like new cars, some are great, some are lemons. So far, mine still looks new after 15 rounds and more than a thousand range balls on the "odometer". Golfballls.com service has been ideal; the club arrived bare, without a head cover or adjustment wrench: a call to Golfballs' customer service resulted in an apology and an overnight mail package with both items. This club has quickly become my favorite; for the first time ever I look forward to those par fives! And with their attitude and behavior, Golfballs.com has become my top choice for golf gear. (For the record, I have no connection to either Callaway or Golfballs.com, nor have I received anything for this review, just sharing my experience to help others decide how to spend their hard earned dollars.)

I did not purchase this driver from golfballs.com, but rather through a Man of War instructor's recommendation/fitting session. The major issue is with the construction of the club. The club face does not fit perfectly into the head, and it's beginning to "peal" or "chip" away from the top of the head. I just noticed it last weekend during a tournament when I couldn't figure out what the "rough feel" was while cleaning it after a shot. I showed it to my buddies, and they were equally unimpressed. For $500, I would expect just a bit more from any golf equipment company. I'm writing to Callaway hoping to get this resolved, but for now I simply cannot recommend spending this price on this item and having it fall apart within 6 weeks.
